Adb not included in build zip

I am following the instructions of Install /e/OS on a Fairphone The Fairphone (Gen. 6) - “FP6”
Which refers me to /e/OS official FP6 download

I download the latest zip (IMG-e-3.2-a15-20251022539003-official-FP6.zip). The instructions say there is an “adb” script included, but it only contains (in the folder bin-linux-x86):

e2fsdroid
fastboot
lib64
make_f2fs
make_f2fs_casefold
mke2fs
mke2fs.conf
sload_f2fs
source.properties

There must be reason for it to be included in the zip, or can I just install adb using apt?
Maybe Im too paranoid, but I decided to follow the instructions strictly, to avoid potential problems

It is not an “adb” script, but a “fastboot” script…
Adb is not needed in the case of this device.

If you plan to relock the bootloader after the installlation

(not mandatoty, only available with Official version, why relocking ?)
Most important thing to take care about is the “android Security Patch Level” in the already installed Operating System on your device before you start the install process.

It must be OLDER than the “android Security Patch Level” included in the /e/OS build you want to install, otherwise you risk to change your device into Brick.

• You will find this information about stock OS on the device :

settings --> about phone --> android version 15 --> android security update

I ran into this issue just now.

It is mention in the install guide. I looked in the Fair Phone 6 install guide:

but fastboot,

in the “Requirements” section, we see

IMHO: I disagree. In the install guide is says to run the adb reboot bootloader command twice:

to follow along the steps of the install guide, adb is needed..

you are right in saying that official documentation is confusing, i am fighting (can’t find anyone to speak to at /e/) on this subject since 6 years why i decided to develop unofficial guides for that reason.

i took the habit to use the buttons as adb reboot bootloader don’t works on some devices

i was reffering to the fact that the install-script don’t need to use adb, but fastboot
And you highlight that the web-installer may expect an adb binary in the /bin-darwin folder…

i think he tried ( by creating the About the Documentation Suggestions category category )
but, unfortunately it is not efficient… the one who get control on the web site don’t take care of the suggestions :
for month years the gallaxy a52 quote files to flash that are not even provided by the buider infrastructure etc…
