Adb root not working after OS switch to 3.4-beta3-a14 (FP4)

**Dear folks,

in order to get back access to the filesystem of the internal SSD on my FP4
typing “adb root” at the Linux terminal prompt, I switched from 3.3-stable to the
testing version 3.4-beta.3-a14-20251231564349-official-FP4, because the
/e/OS documentation states, that w/ testing versions files can be accessed
as root on internal SSD again.

But “adb root” hangs in the same way as it does connected to the stable version.
There is also no “ADB root” option in the dev’s options menu.
Removing and re-adding devlopper options didn’t change anything either.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
Best, Werner**

what about booting TWRP without installing it :

fastboot boot twrp-3.7.0_11-0-FP4.img

Thank you. I would really like to boot this downloaded twrp image.

But I cannot unlock the device w/ the new generated unlock code following the instructions
on Bootloader Unlocking Code for Fairphone - Fairphone
After entering the gesture of the display locking on the phone, no window pops up to enter
the unlock code, returning to the dev options menu instead.
I’ll keep trying …

it is present on my installed “Community” build

“official” branch build and relocked bootloader is not the best conditions to tinker with android configuration.

you can stop trying this step because it have to be done only once per device
