Advanced Privacy and Fennec F-Droid

I recently switched from the /e/OS Browser to Fennec F-Droid and noticed that in daily browsing, there are a lot more trackers being blocked in Fennec compared to the /e/OS Browser. Fennec regularly takes first place at the Advanced Privacy’s Wall of Shame. I assume this is because the /e/OS Browser comes with built-in adblockers and privacy features while Fennec doesn’t.

Given that Advanced Privacy blocks all these tracking attempts, is there a point in installing privacy and adblocking extensions in Fennec (from a privacy perspective)?

One thing is that AP lists also the trackers on Websites you see using the browser. That’s why browsers are normally on top of the list.

The other thing is that App Lounge lists 2 trackers for Fennec F-Droid himself. The F-Droid store says about the app: Tracks or reports your activity.

imo for sure: the likes of uBlock have good filter lists, way more insight into the html page to block javascript selectively - and they can also do html based cosmetic filtering for the sane-ness of the reader.

Thanks! I will add blocking extensions to Fennec and keep an eye on the Advanced Privacy panel before deciding if I continue using this browser.

A little update on this: Even with uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger installed, /e/OS’ Advanced Privacy reports blocking over 100 trackers per month for Fennec.

Any idea if Advanced Privacy might detect and block these before the browser Add-Ons do?
