After Updates etc. SIM-Passcode needed which blocks usage of phone alltogether

I am not sure if this is an issue or actually intended design and if this has been reported elsewhere.

After restarting phone (eg. after SW-update) it is required to enter SIM-PassID.

If I fail to enter correct SIM PassID it is OK to have SIM related functionality (phone) disabled. But it should still be able to use any other functionality like taking photos, videos, listen to music, surf web (browser), do WLAN related stuff etc.

This used to be possible before I updates the Samsung phone to /e/OS but now phone is blocked alltogether. So without SIM-PassID I cannot use the phone at all.

Can you please clearify?

i see two cases :

  1. remove the SIM card if it is responsible of the issue.

  2. you need to go back to stock OS to remove carrier lock on the phone, and then install /e/OS.
