App lounge - apps not updating - retry

Under anonymous login also after clearing cache and history in App lounge settings, updating apps fails on latests /e/os 3.6 for FP6. Apps download, installing starts but then fails and suggest Retry. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi @Seltini welcome to the /e/ users forum.

Many app-lounge threads contain a suggestion like this

That thread and others will continue with user experience.

Thanks, I’ll wait 12 hours after clearing storage and cache and then try again.

The same on my Pixel 5 and v3.7.1 update.
App Lounge version: 2.17.1

Basically after clearing cache and storage it’s the same, even after restart. I can see the apps, but cannot update already existing apps nor cannot install other apps from store.

I can see Murena Cloud status, but cannot see App Lounge status on e.foundation website. Is there any status for App Lounge?

I have this issue since several updates of e/os and it doesn’t seem to be addressed.
What I do to solve this is:

  1. Go to Apps>App Lounge
  2. Force stop the app
  3. Delete Cash and App Data
  4. Reboot
  5. Pause Adblocker
  6. Start App Lounge and use it anonymously
Then App Lounge is able to update the apps
Enable Adblocker again that it can do it’s work
    I am using a Fairphone 5

Thank you @eos_noob I’ll try that, but how do I pause Adblocker? I don’t know how/where I can do that. Can you explain me how to do this?

Do you mean one of the advanced privacy sliders such as the tracker blocker or do you have a separate addblocker installed?

Thank you, I bought a MURENA Fairphone 5 with eOS preinstalled and as far as I know I don’t have a separate adblocker installed.

But I wonder if there is some blocker that I have to close in order to reset the AppLaunch for that app is not functioning.

Thank you.

Advanced Privacy is one of the things mentioned in the App Lounge FAQ.

Sounds good to follow this advice substituting Advanced Privacy off.

If at the first attempt step 6 fails, then do it all again but wait 2 to 12 hours before you retry.

I have installed Adaway which I have to disable as described

But I can’t recall if it’s installed by default.

Some apps update, a bunch of them do not. All apps are dowloaded via App lounge and I have tried all suggested steps above (logging out from the anonymous account, clearing cache and storage, wait 12 hours, turn off ad blocker, login again). Any suggestions? Should i create a google account for app store access? Thanks!

(You could use a Google account if that is what you require.)

Bettet (inho) to clear the blockage in your system. I am afraid it can return or appears as if it never goes away.

Notice in this post [Solved] Unable to update apps on App Lounge on Motorola G 5G plus (Nairo) and Moto Edge 20 (Berlin) - #10 by Stormblade I had made the point where updating can have an extra hazard when “App Lounge thinks” you have something “impossible” about your Update list. The result for some users can be that as soon as you Clear storage, the “impossible” update runs and the “log-jam” is reinstated.

When you Clear storage (in this situation) try uncheck

  • Automatic install updates
  • Update apps from other sources

This probably needs doing at right after Clear storage. Some plus and minus of the situation is discussed in the thread.

Ofc maybe you need to check the apps which won’t update. Anything unusual about them? Are they particularly Google dependant? Could they have been discontinued for the device. Updatimg apps one at a time (off the update list) might give clues.

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried the whole sequence twice but no success. The apps that did not update still do not update. I tried updating one by one, starting with different apps, but same behavior, they download untill 100%, briefly go to installing but immediately switch to retry. The apps are common apps that are not discontinued, some required registration, others not, they do not seem to have something in common. The list of apps not updating is 13 now, and as said, other apps are still updating without problems. All apps have been installed through app lounge by anonymous login.

I uninstalled and reinstalled all apps that i could not get updated under anonymous login. At least now i have the latest updates. Do not know yet if the problem still exists that some apps do not update.

So far no problems, apps are updating under anonymous login without issues. Solution was to uninstall and re-install all apps that did not update.
