please excuse if this is not the right place to ask for help. Two apps of mine are malfunctioning after I updated my FP4 to /e/OS 2.6.3 last month. I can only presume that it has something to do with the update as the corresponding websites are working just fine and also the apps are working on other Android devices.
dict.cc: This is a dictionary app. It starts properly, but after searching for a word and selecting it the app just crashes.
DER SPIEGEL: This news app also starts properly. The error seems to be related to the paywall / user area. The app enters an endless loop of death when trying to navigate to the user area.
Is there something I can do? I’m, of course, also fine if I can just report those issues to the developers, although I have no proof that this is an OS issue.
Running /e/OS on a Fairphone FP4 phone. I have the same issue trying to run Yahoo mail immediately after updating /e/OS. I also cleared the cache and uninstalled and re-installed the app… The app opens briefly and then shuts down. Help!
(And I would be willing to go back to the earlier version of /e/OS if necessary, but I don’t know how to do that.)
I installed both Apps and tried to reproduce (I’m on 2.6.3-t on a FP3 … I’d guess you’re too on A13 / T ? though)
It’s inconclusive. I can’t bring dict.cc to crash - for me it works™.
Spiegel App has the infinite-loading symbol on at all times. In the logcat it doesn’t say much beside
D MainContentActivity: comparing https://www.spiegel.de/ with https://www.spiegel.de/schlagzeilen/
D MainContentActivity: url mismatch; discarding fragment action
I had Advanced Privacy tracker blocking deactivated.
Thanks for the reference. I had no idea. I guess I will continue to use the web version of the affected apps and wait for another OS update. Factory reset would be worse.
@tcecyk I will have a look into error logging if the error persists after the next OS update.
Hi ,
I have the same issue after upgrading my FP4 to /e/OS version 2.6.3-u-20241217455359-official-FP4 .
Some app ask me to update , and then I have “a problem with APK”, to finally have a “no compatible with my phone”.
Some apps are not vital but usefull , but if come with my bank account app it will be really ennoying .
@Manoj: the problem still exists with dict.cc on /e/OS 2.7.
At least I found a feasible workaround for dict: instead of clicking on the search result (which crashes the app), the translation works when using the keyboards’s Enter/Search button
I’ve also been having this issue with Yahoo Mail on my FP4. I first noticed it when I updated the phone to one of the 2.6 beta versions, which I did in order to restore functionality to Google apps (Voice, Photos, Keep, Calendar, etc. had broken somehow, so I updated the microG version while installing the e/OS updates and they started working again).
I had hoped that the Yahoo Mail problem would be resolved in 2.7, but it still persists. I tried clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and nothing seems to have made a difference.
I’m not sure how to access the logs to see what’s causing the crash.
