Buying an app through Google Play, but cannot succeed Google Identification due to wrong smartphone

Hi everyone!

For work i need a specific work hours documentaton app. Timesheet by Dycon. Through App Lounge or Aurora i can not buy apps. So i went to buy it on google store on my laptop. In order to pay in the google app store (paypal) i am asked to confirm my google identity. After asking for my password, google requires me to confirm identity on my smartphone.

Now, Murena made google think i have a Pixel 2. I dont. I have a Fairphone 4. So the confirmation request does not appear on my Smartphone. No other methods are available.

Essentially i can not confirm my identity to google. I am stuck,

Is there a workaround?

Thanks for your help!
Nicolas

I think I remember this Fairphone spoofing as Pixel 2 occur before here microG disguising as Google Pixel 2 (in 2025!) is a fp5 example.

If you check Settings > System > micro-G > Google device registration … is Select profile.

Which Profile is current … and does a change here make an improvement?

the device profile spoofing itself isn’t an issue, but you need to enable “Google Prompt” 2-step-verification until it’s enabled by default in /e/OS v3.3 and up, see this thread: Confused About Google Prompt (login) and /e/OS - #9 by tcecyk

(for where and why it’s spoofed to Pixel 2, same thread)

Oh, nice! I activated that last option in the microG-settings and now google did not even bother to visibly ask for confirmation. Thanks a lot!

just for clarification for readers later reading and as it isn’t written out explicitly:

I do assume that you added your Google account in System → Accounts and it is the same that you used when purchasing through the Laptop.

Correctly assumed, yes!
