Since my old topic was locked without really being answered, does anyone know if a “community” version of /e/ OS can OTA to “official” version if/when it is ever released?
Specifically, for a FP5, if that makes any difference

It could not happen. Community and official as well as being “Build types” they are also release channels, so the device is effectively tied to the build / channel.
You could change from community to stable, preferably (for assured stability) with a fresh install and format data. Beware the anti-rollback, details on the install page.
