Hi !
I flashed /e/OS on my redmi note 7 a few years ago, but since it’s not supported anymore I’ve had an out-of-dated device for too long.
One of you let me know that an unofficial build for lavender existed, so I wanted to give it a shot before using a pixel 9a with grapheneOS on it. I want to use my smartphone as much as possible so here I am.
But there is a problem, I need to install orangefox instead of TWRP.
Since I reinstalled Windows 11 since the year I installed /e/OS with adb/fastboot/etc, I never did that kind of things again.
I reinstalled the drivers (redmi note 7), the adb platform tools, prepared the images to flash, when I plug my phone I can do “adb reboot bootloader”, I have the cute rabbit with the fastboot logo on my phone which indicates that my computer can control my smartphone, but then, when I try any other command such as “`fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", I just get “waiting for any device”.
I reinstalled the drivers, lurked some forums with similar problems to mine, but I don’t have the knowledge to overcome that kind of things by myself.
Would some of you have any clue ? I live in Paris, are you aware of some places where people do that kind of things to help others ?
Thank you ! After the optional windows update and an other USB C cable, I passed through some steps, now I have to install Orange Fox from the zip file I should put on my device :
* After OrangeFox has booted up, check that everything is working – eg, that it has mounted the data partition successfully, and that the touchscreen works.
* Find and `select the OrangeFox zip` on your phone, tap on it, and `swipe to install it (because OrangeFox Recovery needs some files from the zip)`.
I can boot on it, but I got to see a screen that says that my data are encrypted and that explains why every file I see in my sdcard or internal storage are juste big numbers. Therefore, I can’t identify my orangefox zip. Should I delete everything else from my computer to make the orange fox zip recognizable or won’t it work because encryption could make it unreadable as the needed file to install ?
I’m sorry if there are noob questions, I do that kind of things once in a decade.
And since I’m here, in the primary tutorial there is this step : 4) Copy crDroid build and other additional zip files to your device
At this point, I will have an empty phone, so how shall I copy/paste a file on it from my computer if it can’t be detected as a device where I have to activate the capacity to transfer data via USB on it ?
OK, in the end I used this tuto from @piero[HOWTO] an Unified Install Guide Project for /e/ with an unofficial release of /e/3.3 for lavender and everything went fine. My phone is good for an other round before I need to change it, thanks
