Can't delete pictures in gallery app

for a while now, I can’t delete pictures taken with open camera located in the DCIM folder from the gallery app. I can select and tap on delete, I get the message that the pictures are moved to the bin, but they remain there.

Deleting pictures located in other folders (ie. Whatsapp Images) does work.

Any ideas what could be the problem here?

they’d be deleted only after 30 days if the bin isn’t emptied explicitly (via library tab at the bottom, select “Trash”, upper right icon “Delete forever” dialog → ok
