Cant send RCS messages

eOS has been working great so far, however I can’t get RCS messaging to work, it defaults to SMS. I’ve tried using Google Messages too but the same issue happens.

Could anyone help me get around this?
And are there any solutions or alternative messaging apps that do support it?

Many thanks

it can’t work currently. It’s said to be carrier independent, but RCS is in fact tied to Googles Play Integrity and Apples AppAttest.

see How did you deal with the lack of RCS messaging when changing to e/os?

ah I see, thanks for letting me know

Personally I found RCS helpful on normal android device only as it’s quicker and easier to send a picture through that facility than via email, and you don’t pay for MMS. On the other hand picture sending wise it’s less dependable, as well as for normal text messages, because it depends on the recipient connected to internet in regards to whether they get it immediately or at all.

Hence, RCS messages can ‘get lost’ unless you switch when prompted to SMS/MMS.

It can be convenient but far from dependable or private.

And well, if one wants to de-google their handset and that is a google specific product (android), just have to live without it
