Can't Update Contact Photos

I am using the system default contacts app, and trying to add a photo for a contact. Unfortunately, after selecting the image there is just no option to save. I thought the issue was with Fossify Gallery - the default app set - but they’re saying the picker coming up isn’t theirs. So now I have multiple problems.

  • What media picker is being used and why isn’t it my default gallery & media management app?
  • Why is there no accept/save/OK button?

I have Fossify Gallery set to “allow app to manage media” and the default Gallery app this option is disabled. In fact Gallery app has been disabled! I remember doing something else a while back and given the option of selecting an app the handle the image selection. I made the mistake of selecting something called “Media Picker” (Gallery and Fossify were other options) to see how it worked, thinking if I can use eOS defaults it’s better, and I am wondering if this is what’s being used. It’s not listed in the apps list at all. I no longer get the option to choose what app I want to select media with. Maybe I hit the “always” option in error?!

Do you have this issue?

YES! That’s exactly it. I can confirm I don’t have the “dark theme” option enabled. I am using a Teracube 2s though, so it seems to be a system bug across devices then?

again in this example you can actually see SAVE hidden black on black; do you see similar?

I don’t see anything in the dark areas hidden. It just looks like the button is absent to me. I actually tried randomly pointing at spaces I thought a button should exist… in case… and nothing. Here’s a screenshot from my device.

Blown up, I do see SAVE, black on black in top right of your image.

… but it does show more on certain screens or lighting… maybe invisible on your screen?
