CMF Phone 1 won't boot after resent update

Hi to all,

after the recent update (had some hiccups while downloading) my Nothing CMF Phone 1 (tetris) refuses to boot.

While the cmf-logo is showing, it tells me: “Red State. Device Cannot Boot. Enter Repair Mode. Dismiss After 5 seconds” and goes into a boot-loop. I can only shut it down by entering recovery.

I installed /e/OS a year ago myself via adb and fastboot (Linux LMDE system) with the documentation provided by the e.foundation ( Install /e/OS on a Nothing Nothing CMF Phone 1 - "tetris" | /e/OS documentation ) and everything worked great (I was so happy) until now. Though I have limited experience with adb and fastboot.

I was already looking for a way to redo the update with fastboot and found the command and downloaded IMG-e-4.2-a14-20260814662910-official-tetris.zip (or is there a specific update.zip?), but I don’t want to brick it and did not try it yet.
Naively I didn’t make any backups. :face_with_peeking_eye:

I checked , found my phone and didn’t give me any issues, but did not show any results.

Can someone help me please. :worried: Many Thanks in advance. Jay

Use the locale update feature,
or
Boot into recovery mode, then adb sideload the .ZIP

Thankyou piero for the quick answer. I’ll try it right away.
Just one small question: can I use the official update, when I used the community version before?

a backup of your important things, apps and apps data is recomended
How to Backup and Restore your /e/OS phone | /e/OS documentation

you may face a signature mismatch (with option to install anyway),

a good option could be first fastboot flash the corresponding recovery-e.img

you may have finally to format /data to have /e/OS booting

Changing Release types | /e/OS documentation carries a risk in itself.

If you don’t quite know why you arrived in this situation it would seem less risk to update like for like, community to community.

To change build types you can take risks later once you have a backup … or you can clean, fresh install official to know that you have a clean stable phone.
