Could the Fairphone4 sensor issue (post ubuntu touch install) be fixed with a future update?

I have seen this post online

https://forum.fairphone.com/t/phone-sensors-stopped-working-after-installing-experimental-image-ubuntu/87942/48

Would i be possible for /e/ to fix this issue with a update? I know its a Ubuntu Touch issue.

My point is more, if it is possible and not if /e/ should be forced to fix it.

I should say I’m a new owner of a Fairphone4 and it has the sensor issue, so i guess the previous owner has Ubuntu Touch installed at some point (Got the phone second hand from a vendor in my contry).

As you had no reply …

I would say no … the persist partition is one that it is advised to backup before any complex intervention. I understand that it contains device specific information.

So the backup and restore would have initially been the responsibility of “some previous owner” (??)

My guess, in the case that the vendor is a business, is that the phone should not be sold “effectively incomplete” and you would have grounds to return it, or claim a refund or partial refund if …

… a fairphone can be reimaged https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035880131-Fairphone-3-Repair-Price-list-and-FAQ-Cordon-Repair-Center. Before sending, it would be wise to check with them that your exact issue with persist can be fixed.
