Device Request – BlackBerry Key2 LE (Android 15) – LineageOS 22.2 as a base for /e/OS

Hi /e/OS team,

The BlackBerry Key2 LE now has an unofficial LineageOS 22.2 (Android 15) build available (January 2026 security patch). Below are the key points:

  • Bootloader unlocked – no hardware modifications are required
  • Download the ROM: https://fumo.enterprises/ext/lineage-22.2-20260131-UNOFFIONAL-luna.zip
  • Recovery image: https://fumo.enterprises/ext/recovery-luna.img
  • What works: RIL, Wi‑Fi, camera, Bluetooth; SELinux and encryption are currently disabled
  • Source code for the BlackBerry‑specific changes: https://github.com/FumoEnterprises (contains the blobs, kernel patches, and RIL adaptations for the Key2 LE)

Because /e/OS is a privacy‑focused fork of LineageOS, this ROM provides a solid starting point for an /e/OS port to the Key2 LE. I am happy to cooperate in testing, bug‑fixing, and documentation to help bring this device into the /e/OS lineup.

Would the team consider creating an /e/OS branch for this device?

Thank you for your time and effort.

BlackBerry phones were once synonymous with security—pair them with /e/OS and we’ll bring that golden age of safe, private mobile calling back to life.

I made a build using the sources you provided:

Build it untested so it might not even boot.

Could also build for this Blackberry device as also available in sources above:

Hey, ronnz98

I’ve never been this excited about something that technically isn’t working yet. The Wi‑Fi doesn’t connect, there’s no SIM card support, the camera and fingerprint sensor are non‑functional (I knew the camera issue was expected and still under development). Even the physical keyboard behaves oddly.

But the fantastic news is that the phone boots, and /e/OS is now running on it—and I’m already seeing that this system feels faster and smoother than the original factory Android 8. I truly believe this device has a bright future with this operating system!

Great job—thank you so much for your effort!

One fact: I can only unlock the bootloader in tethered mode, which means every time I power the phone on I have to connect it via USB to a computer and run a script. An untethered bootloader unlock does exist in theory, but it hasn’t been released publicly yet.

I really appreciate your help! Let’s wait for the official LineageOS release and the public untethered bootloader unlock, and then continue testing /e/OS on the BB!

Thank you again for the time you put into this!

You can read detailed information about the LineageOS development for this device HERE.
I wish you a wonderful weekend!
