"/e/OS Camrea" option within "Apps"-Settings unclear

Hi,

i kust got my new Fairphone 6 with e/OS pre-installed.
I’m pretty happy overall!

However, I found a setting within “apps” which says:

“/e/ OS camera”
description: activate this option to use the /e/OS Camera-App. Phone needs to be restarted.
(As I’m using my phone in German, this is a translation and wording could be different, but this is basicly, what it says.)

I only have the default (built in) camera app installed and I could not figure any difference with or without the option turned on.

Can anyone explain, what this options does? Does it only have usage, when i have more than the default camera app installed?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online services

If you toggle the option and reboot your phone, the Fairphone stock camera app is being installed and appears as a light grey icon. In theory, as it’s better adopted to the camera hardware of the Fairphone, it should produce better photos than the /e/-OS stock camera app (dark grey icon).

This is how it looks on my FP5:

Thanks for clarification!

The button was toggled by default. I just tried it again…obviously I didn’t restart the last time,i tried it, or i didn’t look for a new camera app. :woman_facepalming:
