/e/OS installation on FP 6 not without problems

I bought a new Fairphone 6 and wanted to install /e/OS on it. For OEM-unlock I needed a verfication code. But the code I received contained also C and B. I could not type these letters, just numbers. After an update a verification code was not longer needed. But now I have to wait a month for a new version of /e/OS.

Hi Ton,
Welcome to the community!

Strange that you could not type the required letters. But that’s out of the way now.

If you are using the webinstaller, be aware that it does not relock your bootloader.

If you have some computer skills, you can install /e/OS manually and relock only safely after the update. This will trigger a factory reset but at least you will have had some time to play around with /e/.

Thank you. I will try to install /e/OS manually.

Please be sure to fully understand the anti-rollback hazard from which eosinstaller tried to protect you.

Extra precaution before you start; take a screenshot or note of the Android SPL as found:

  1. Find your device’s current SPL. On the stock ROM, open Settings » About phone » Android version » Android security patch level, and note the full date (e.g. 2025-06-05).

I have now installed /e/OS without locking the bootloader. It was not easy. Using fastboot there was always: Waiting for any device. On Youtube I found a movie where someone showed how you could install a driver for an android phone in Device Manager.
