/e/ Pie on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro/AI - whyred

Hello everyone. Me and lots of my comrades are interested in upgrading official /e/ ROM for Whyred from Oreo to Pie.

Now device is running 10 unofficially so even Pie is a bit out-of-date for us. But anyway stock MIUI is based on Pie and of course we have lots of successful ROMs (whyred is one of the most popular devices like hammerhead in its time).

Nowadays the most actual LOS-based Pie ROM is unofficial LOS 16: https://sourceforge.net/projects/whyred-los/files/rom/ that is maintained by subhrajyotisen.

LOS 16 on whyred doesn’t have any issues because it’s similar to MIUI stock base and kernel builds and works “out-of-the-box”.

Dear development team, I’m requesting for building official Pie based ROM of /e/ for Whyred. I want to help in building process and can help you providing necessary links to device tree source, manifest etc.

perhaps post this also on the /e/ Gitlab page, you may get in touch with the developers more quickly there!

why don’t build it for yourself and your comrades ? A lot of people will thank you

Gitlab is for bugs in the OS … @mikezexter this is the best place to raise a request to get official support or an OS upgrade for a smartphone. The more the requests the sooner the device gets noticed and on the list.
Also as @harvey186 mentions you could try building it yourself as well …there are a number of posts about this here

Of course it will be great if I build it by myself but I’m not so skilled and don’t have enough time to solve possible problems during building. But I can find and give any important information if developers need it.

LOS 16 is great-researched ROM for whyred and regular official nightly autobuilding for it will be the reason to increase /e/ users count.

A new Q-build…
