Easy battery improvement on FP5

Hello!

I recently I got a Murena FP5 and noticed the battery was draining fairly quickly.

Looking around the forum I saw that deactivating 5G could help, and it did, but only during the day with the phone on, during the nigh (on flight mode) it was still draining about 10% in 8 hours.

I did some checks and figured out that it was the out of-the-box app “Bliss Weather” that was making several calls to the GPS during the night (in flight mode), so I turned Bliss Weather to manual update only, removed the auto-find location, force-stopped it, and just as a fail-safe measure deactivated the phone location, as a result I woke up with just a 1-2% battery drain.

Hope this is useful for other users, and maybe to consider tunning the app itself. For the time being I’m using Breezy Weather instead.

Some say clearing cache of apps helps it. There is a discussion on German with the FP4. Used tools are cccleaner or sdmaidse or similar, just be aware to really delete only cache, depending on used app.

Here if you wanna check it with translations.

Did some more checking and it could be that it was not the bliss weather app, but the system itself when adaptative light and dark mode was programmed to be turned on-off automatically on sunrise and dawn. Switched it to be programmed for specific hours.

Nice catch, that’s really useful info. Battery drain like that is super frustrating, so narrowing it down to Bliss Weather helps a lot. Hopefully the devs can tweak it, but your workaround will probably save a few people some headaches.
