Escape Velocity

From my point of view, most people seem to Like being in a comfort-zone. Leaving a comfort-zone is always an effort. And an effort is only worth being done, when the result is better than before, or when the present situation is totally unsatisfying.
Google and co. will do everything that people feel comfortably pampered.
So how make people change?
Ideas:

  • Tell friends what Google is doing with their data
  • Make a change to /e/ as easy AS possible
  • Make a list: Google Service XYZ is ABC in /e/
  • Write more articles in papers and blogs about /e/
  • Tell people rooting is possible and not illegal
  • Offer a Website where you show, what Google might be collecting when you use your phone normally
  • Offer sample phones installed with /e/ to the press
  • Keep on the good work
  • Try to remember why you switched to /e/ and pass the knowledge to other people

Roger

This one is what I share, too

Fortunately, I never owned a googled phone so I don’t miss their services.
Also, it helps to think about which apps are really needed. Often, there is a web interface, too. So no installation, no spyware, just a bit less comfortable to use than the app. Sure, this workaround is depending on how often a certain acces is used. (I use e.g. banking this way)

Best regards
Christian
