Esim no longer finding network after placing phone in a safe

I am using e/os 3.6 official on a Fairphone 6 (FP6). I’m currently abroad and installed an esim for travel in addition to my physical sim. The esim was working perfectly for about a week. Recently I did place my phone in a safe at a hotel for a few hours. When I got back and took the phone out if the safe, the signal was lost and the esim could no longer detect any network. Activating/deactivating airplane mode did not solve the issue, as well as rebooting phone. The esim is still active in the phone but it no longer detect any network even when deactivating the auto select network feature. APN settings seem correct though and the physical sim works fine too. I also tried reinitialising network settings but without success. ChatGPT suggested I ask the carrier to reprovision the esim and generate a new qr code. I will probably have to try that. But i don’t understand why placing the phone in a safe for a few hours (=prolonged signal loss) would kind if corrupt the esim profile. Is this an e/os bug? Thanks!

There is System > Reset options > Reset mobile etc.

One might try shutdown, removal of physical SIM and then restart. If the eSIM returns to service one hopes another shutdown would allow successful replace SIM. (??).

It has been reported that the restart function on some phones can fail to actually reboot. Perhaps also worth to Power down wait and restart, just to rule out the possibility.
