Fairphone 6 calling volume too loud

Even on lowest settings of volume call, everyone around me can still hear my phone call. This is also a privacy issue that should be fix ASAP.

When using the ear speaker? Another FP6 user can maybe compare. Is it possible you are using the external speaker?

Yeah, when using ear speaker. I dont think I have been using nthe external speaker the whole time. Also with different app like Signal, its even worse, the audio is louder even if its on the lowest level.

Perhaps a useful test during your next call would be to use the ā€œSpeakerā€ switch more than once during the call to test the switch works nicely on your phone.

If you bought the phone from Murena you should probably use Contact Us.

I have tested it multiple times and the results are Iā€™m really using the internal speaker (I mean the upper speaker of the phone) which is too loud.

I have custom ROM e/os flashed by myself, Fairphone 6 is from original Fairphone shop

So, you donā€™t press the speaker icon on call screen?

And when you do touch the speaker on the active call screen and switch to the external speaker, does it go any louder? Or remains the same, no matter if ā€˜loudspeakerā€™ selected or not?

Hello,

After I updated my FP6 (e/OS preinstalled by Murena) the sound of my earphones is suddenly too loud even at the lowest setting (10 %). I am using the USB-C port at the bottom of the device wih cable, so no bluetooth device. I recognized that you can either switch the sound to 0 or to 10 %. I was not able to select anything between. Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?

I have shared this issue detail with the development team. They will create an internal issue for this. One of the steps being considered is to increase the volume steps.

I think the solution should be higher dynamic range between lowest and highest volume. You can add more volume positions which doesnā€™t solve the minimum audio problem, only add more precise control over too loud audio. Lowering the lowest audio settings (lowest volume bar position) about 30dB (-30dB) is the solution, not more volume bar positions.
