Proposal
Please make the exact /e/OS version string shown in Settings → System Updates copyable by long-press.
For example, on my Fairphone 6 the current version is:
4.1.1-a16-20260717651034-official-FP6
Current behavior
Settings → System Updates displays the installed /e/OS version, but the version text cannot be copied.
This is inconvenient because users are often asked to provide the exact /e/OS version/build string when reporting bugs or asking for technical support.
A full version string such as:
4.1.1-a16-20260717651034-official-FP6
is long enough that manually typing it is inconvenient and may introduce transcription errors.
Existing behavior elsewhere in /e/OS
/e/OS already supports this exact interaction elsewhere:
Settings → About phone → Android version → /e/OS version
Long-pressing the /e/OS version there copies the complete version string to the clipboard.
Therefore, this proposal would not introduce a new interaction pattern. It would simply make the System Updates screen consistent with functionality that already exists elsewhere in /e/OS.
Proposed behavior
In:
Settings → System Updates
long-pressing the displayed /e/OS version should copy the complete exact version/build string to the clipboard.
For example:
4.1.1-a16-20260717651034-official-FP6
Optionally, a short confirmation such as “Copied to clipboard” could be displayed.
Why this would be useful
• Makes bug reporting and support requests easier.
• Avoids errors when manually typing long build strings.
• Makes it easier to provide exact version information in Community and GitLab reports.
• Uses an interaction pattern that already exists elsewhere in /e/OS.
• Makes the Settings interface more consistent.
• System Updates is a natural place for users to check which /e/OS version they currently have installed.
