Hello /e/OS Team and Community,
I propose adding AOSmium (from the AXP.OS project) as a trusted WebView provider in /e/OS.
Reasoning: AOSmium is a high-security, privacy-focused WebView implementation. It is a fork of Mulch (DivestOS) and incorporates many of the hardening patches from Vanadium (GrapheneOS). Given that /e/OS focuses on privacy and de-googling, AOSmium would be an excellent alternative for users who want a more hardened web-rendering engine without relying on proprietary or less-maintained forks.
The Goal: The goal is to include AOSmium’s package name and signature in the system’s config_webview_packages.xml. This would allow users who have AOSmium installed (e.g., via the AXP.OS F-Droid repo) to manually select it under Settings > Developer Options > WebView implementation.
Precedent: Recently, iodéOS 7.2 has officially added support for AOSmium as an alternative WebView provider, acknowledging its security benefits and the demand from the privacy community.

Allowing users to choose their own trusted provider aligns perfectly with the /e/OS philosophy of user empowerment and data sovereignty.
