I would love to be able to exclude apps from the applounge that have a privacy rating below a certain threshold, or at least from the search results. It would be great if we could set it in the app settings.
Also, I would love it if this rating was also displayed in the search results, next to the 5 star ratings.
murena struggled to either centrally cache privacy ratings or run a copy themselves, so the ratings are currently gone in search and category. But more filtering options or curation are often asked for:
lastly, a privacy rating can be misleading. You got one api extraction url in a commercial App, no separate or 3rd party sdks: 9/10 privacy, but it ain’t so
That would be a useful feature since I always look at that data, at least I did before Exodus blacklisted /e/os.
Tracker blocking is a bit like ad-blocking. You can only stop the ones that call out to a known provider. Unknown trackers or proprietary trackers that only call home are not detected.
Most apps you find at the Google Play Store use third party trackers that are easy to detect and block, but some are just evil, like anything that comes from Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp). They’re suspected of using broad reaching proprietary trackers that can’t be detected.
If you’re paranoid about it, limit yourself to open source apps. They typically don’t have trackers of any kind.
