Feedback for v2.9

I know about the possible switch to the stock camera. But uses the stock camera the full resolution ? The FP3+ camera has also 48MP but because of the pixel binning it’s only 12MP.

This problem is also present on the FP4 since a few updates now. I have been reporting it on the Feedback threads but maybe it’s time to open a new gitlab issue.

The settings for the front camera are also ignored by open camera. No matter what you select - the resolution doesn’t change.

What more can I say? Same again with me, everything seems to work fine -
another big thanks to all of you at e from a very happy e-user who is still absolutely convinced that buying the Samsung S7 from your website years ago was one of the best ideas in his life! :grinning:

Help!

2.9t micro g crashes every few seconds or minutes. Interrupts what ever you are doing. Also I agree with other poster that battery life is less now.
Google pixel 7 pro.

It says micro g keep stopping

Waiting for 2.10 then… Hopefully that version will compile for the Galaxys. I simply would love to see one single working OTA update cycle on my ‘new’ S10 with a14 after the signature bug was resolved in 2.8 before I retire my aging bardockpro.

You could try to clear the storage of microg.

Find it under settings->apps

Device Code Name : FP5
Version of /e/OS : 2.9-t-20250321478215-official-FP5
Previous version of /e/OS: 2.8-t - stable
Is the device Rooted / Not rooted : not rooted

  • Since the update to 2.9. the accu drains much faster then before
  • the “reboot” problem is already there but in the form as descibed here:
    FP5 rebooting occasionally since /e/os 1.18 upgrade - #77 by Yogi
  • I’m not using “Notizen” but sometimes getting the error message “does not respond” especially after a phone reboot
  • very often if you swipe down for the quick settings and toggle WIFI to off and mobile data to on the mobile data tile flashes but doesn’t get the enabled state. Also no sign LTE/4G appears on top. If you toggle again the tile stays and toggling again it does the desired action and shows LTE/4G on top - not a big problem though

This FP5 is at least rebooted once or twice a week, normally no power off (only after updates).

All update installations went smooth!

Nearly everything works fine so far except the app “GMX Mail” (de.gmx.mobile.android.mail) which crashes frequently. These crashes started to occur from one of the intermediate update installations on (can’t remember which one).
Clearing the app cache did not help.
It crashes also when it’s not opened; seems to have something to do with the push notifications. Maybe it’s also related to the launcher “Lawnchair” used on that phone. I will investigate it soon…

Did you try a full cache clearing ? Had the same problem on my FP5, and this procedure restored most of my battery life (still slightly bellow what I’m used to though)

Hi.
While trying to get from 2.7 T to 2.9U my phone (Sony Xperia XZ2 premium) got stuck on the Sony logo. (New) recovery was installed but my adb devices command says the the device is not authorized so I can not write the new image. Any advice how to proceed? It’s the first time this happens to me and I did a lot of installations for various phones.
This Sony device is a dual slot design… so in theory it should try booting from the other slot if it detects some problems booting but that didn’t happen. I could try to reset the phone from the recovery but I fear things could go worse.
Apparently there is no easy way to switch the active slot (or I haven’t found it yet).
In order to authorize the laptop I need to get to the OS and for now I cannot do that.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had this once, unexpected. e-Recovery > Advanced > Enable ADB, did allow the next step to proceed.

Hi aibd. I already did that yesterday and no change, but thank you for trying to help me.

No cache clearing on my side. Thanks for the hint :+1:, just downloaded Cache cleaner
and will give it a try,
Kind regards,

There is 1 app in F-droid called Cache Cleaner but, that one is deprecated and will not install. There is also an opensource app with the same name by a developer called Maxim. I wondered which one people are using? I could not find a way in settings to clear the apps cache either.

I make this mistake again and again.

My working solution:

  1. Copy /e/OS .zip to microSDXC or USB-C stick
  2. Boot into (New) r/e/covery
  3. Apply update
    3a. Choose from microSDXC
    3b Choose from USB-C stick
  4. Reboot system now

Volla!

You may use the “app cleaner”- module of SD Maid SE to clean cache in case cache cleaner does not install or behaves odd because of newer Android version…
(Check include system apps in settings of the app cleaner module)

cache cleaner works well on older Android versions (like 12)

P.S. I also have a problem with the deprecated Cache Cleaner App. I tried to install it and the install button is stuck on ‘Retry’ even though it cannot install. I have tried signing out of app lounge, using ‘Force Stop’ and clearing the app cache but, I cannot get rid of the ‘Retry’ option.

Try fdroid instead of app lounge
