Feedback for v3.1.1

Official or community build?

It does work for me on FP4 eOS v3.1.1 and it didn’t before this update. I use the official build.

Official
But realised it’s because the bootloader is not locked.

Fairphone :three: switch from /e/OS official T (A13) to /e/OS community A15 in one go. Details below.

Not the recommended way

Starting point:

  • FP3 on e-3.0.4-t-20250709507786-official-FP3
  • Bootloader status: locked
  • Use developer options: activated
  • OEM unlocking: activated
  • USB debugging: activated
  • no change attempted to bootloader status

:no_entry: Attempts of local updating

  • Local update to e-3.1.1-a15-20250830521751-community-FP3: failed
  • Local update to e-3.1.1-a14-20250901522231-community-FP3: failed

:white_check_mark: Attempt of ADB Sideload via /e/ recovery 3.0.4

  • ADB Sideload of e-3.1.1-a15-20250830521751-community-FP3
  • Log on display:

Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with ā€œadb sideload ā€ā€¦
Supported API: 3
Finding update package…
ERROR: recovery: failed to verify while-file signature
Update package verification took 114.5 s (result 1).
ERROR: recovery: Signature verification failed
ERROR: recovery: error: 21
Installing update…
Step 1/2
Step 2/2

Install completed with status 0.

In the course of the process right above, I had to respond ā€œYesā€ to the message:
Signature verification failed – Install anyway?

Booting into system from /e/ recovery 3.0.4 succeeds.

Finishing line:

  • FP3 on e-3.1.1-a15-20250830521751-community-FP3
  • Bootloader status: locked :exclamation:
  • Use developer options: activated
  • OEM unlocking: activated
  • USB debugging: activated

Final observations and comments

  • I did encounter a bootloop after the first boot into the new system and first reboot, but upon later boots, this has not (yet) occured again. I might have entered recovery and bootloader (no change attempted) again in the meantime, but do not remember the exact succession anymore.
  • The (regular) reboot takes a relatively long time (40 seconds) on this FP3 now (appears dead for a while until it ā€œwakes upā€ again), on my daily driver FP3+ it takes roughly 22 seconds.
  • If you want to do the same operation at your own risk, make sure to download :white_check_mark: e-3.1.1-a15-20250830521751-community-FP3.zip, not :no_entry: IMG-e-3.1.1-a15-20250830521751-community-FP3.zip

Hello,

an idea when A15-official for Fairphone 4 will be available ? A15 is only available for community edition on Fairphone 4.

Thanks.

All that is known (for quite some time now):

No A15.

Issues:

  • Take screenshot action missing in App Drawer when in 90Āŗ degree view.
  • Kill foreground app missing from long press action
  • stock camera app - unreadable text when taking close range pictures
  • No incoming SMS texts.

All issues carried over since e/os 2.0

No problem to update to 3.1.1. But, I still have this problem: I have to hide my IP address to be able to connect to the internet (4G/5G mode). I can’t set my IP address to exposed, otherwise I won’t have an internet connection. Well before 3.0, I didn’t have this kind of problem. Whether with hidden or exposed IP, I had access to the internet. If I disable Advanced Privacy, I will no longer be able to block trackers or hide my location. In this case, how can I solve my problem?

Thank you.

Update went smooth. No special issues. I am waiting for A15 and hope that Miracast / WiDi will work again (as it did with A13).
The camera takes 48MP pictures again!
A big thank to the team!

@Aln: my WiFi and mobile data are working as expected. IP hiding works as well. Maybe you have some odd settings? E.g. privileges?

Hello all,

On Gauguin phones (MI 10T Lite 5G), has anyone tested the local installation of 3.1.1-A15 from 3.0.4-A13?

Thank you.

I have checked in Settings / Update : no update available for me for FP6 Official.

USB-C wired audio now works as expected on the CMF Phone 1

It’s still not working for me.

I’m on: 3.1.1-a14-20250831522230-community-tetris

Me neither. Why does some people seam to have the OTA ?

FP6, preloaded when bought, no new update here yet. Hoping this’ll come through soon, my guess is it’s being done in stages.

Per this, you can see community for FP6 is at 3.1.1 but official is still at 3.0.4. I’m guessing the official build just isn’t ready yet for FP6 and that’s why we’re not seeing the OTA yet.

Some of us already did the manual install of the A15 3.0.4 which does have OTA, but requires that manual install before.

Is the device Rooted, yes

Just want to report that the upgrade went seemlessly, no issues and the upgrade is very welcome, finally i can turn off VoWifi without turning Wifi off. As well as the camera!! sweet work!

The camera takes again pictures of 48MP, and Revolut is working again… So kudos to the devs and thanks for another good version.

Did an dirty update to the community Build. Worked fine device boots and files are still there. Was missing some apps tho (molly, syncthing-fork and some more, all apps from f droid or just downloaded apk) all other apps from app lounge where there.
Apps are where also only no icon on the launcher, when searched manual I could open the apps.
To get them show on the launcher again I did unistall the apps and reinstalled them.
All good so far. Loving my e/os Tablet
