Everything fine! THX team!

Fairphone 3+
FP3
Update from v3.3-t-official to v3.4-t-official
Not rooted

Updated today, completed in 47 minutes with no issue, including 3 minutes download.

Initial testing of basic functions & apps shows these appearing to be working fine: wi-fi, mobile data, bluetooth, phone, message, mail, browser, App Lounge (common apps), and various other apps.

App Lounge showed a notification after updating an app (manual check and app update) which it has never done before. This is unnecessary for a manual update, and it appears that none of the notification alerts can be turned off in Settings.

GPS location fix seems a bit slower than in v3.3, but I think this is scheduled to be fixed in v3.5.

hello, me again  i tried to tether my laptop to my phone over usb to share the internet yesterday and it didn’t work  i didn’t try to debug why. i know it works with my pixel 6 on stock android however. is this a known issue? searching the forums shows a few instances of people having the same problem, but i haven’t yet found a solution.

check your notifications (it is small)

you have to enable USB tethering

It seems that my camera lenses switched so lens 1 only focuses close-up and lens 2 only on wider distances and that I’m not the only one having such problems: Camera doesnt focus anymore Fairphone 6 - #3 by flansch .

I really don’t know what more I can switch on to enable USB tethering. With my previous Android phone this was just go into the settings and enable USB tethering for the connection and then it works. With the fairphone I enable tethering and I get the notification that USB tethering is active, but my computer doesn’t recognise it, while it did recognise it for my previous Android phone.

you can choose a default USB setting (in developer options)

what OS are you refering ?

If you want to share the internet connection of your PC to your smartphone look at GitHub - Genymobile/gnirehtet: Gnirehtet provides reverse tethering for Android .

You dont need to activate usb tethering, just usb debuging must be enabled.

I use a Linux at home with a graphical network manager. With my old Android phone when I activated USB tethering, an entry appeared in the network manager on my computer saying that a network connection is available over USB. With the fairphone 6 no such entry appears.

Thanks for the info. I’m just trying to share internet on my phone with my computer

I don’t know if it helps but I find out that when the device screen is unlocked I can do calls. When the screen is off, My car says that I should use the phone. I tested it with Mazda 2019 (old system).

Today i downgrade to 1.4.3 and upgrade to 1.4.4 from store. It works partialy. I cant open tasks over the widget and tasks is not offered to assign.

hi everybody! i got usb-tethering under linux working. the instructions here helped me: Tethering via USB doesn't works - #13 by OrsoBruno - Network/Internet - openSUSE Forums

basically, you need to activate an older form of usb-tethering that is now disabled by default in some linux distributions.

Thank you for the feedback! Well I really don’t know why it doesn’t work with my S10e

Hey there again

After giving some thought to this, I really think it would be better if it was a plain f-droid build of ntfy shipped with /e/os. I don’t like having a non configurable ntfy on my phone, forcing me to install a second ntfy for double the battery draining. And it would be really easier to update without waiting for an /e/os update.

In fact, I’d really like if we could uninstall /e/os apps: files, mail, murena drive, tasks, ntfy… I get that you’re trying to deliver an out of the box experienc, which is great. But having an Android fork, I’d like to have more control over all of this. I think only App Lounge should be mandatory, and maybe we should be able to disable it. Or at least, it’d be great if we could disable /e/os apps.

Also, I’ve been playing with my Fairphone 3 and accidentally wiped everything. I installed /e/os completely again, and now some bugs disappeared. MicroG seems to work fine now, I get my FCM notifications instantly and without the app failing in the background.

Geolocation is worse, though, like a hundred km wrong.

Since update my Multiple Users are broken. When i switch to other User, i have to enter my login code as usual, but then it goes to a black screen, where i can hear ans feel the same pincode buttons, but i cant get through. Only leftbottom button is there to go back… so now i cant even access them, with vital apps anymore.

I appriciate all the effort for updates, but with eOS i am always afraid to download them because something will break.. :frowning:

Thanks for posting this as I have multiple users and would not want to lose that functionality on my phone. I will hold off on updating. Strangely, I had the same behaviour on my eos pixel tablet. My secondary user just suddenly stopped working in exacty the same way. And I upgraded that to 3.4 a14 tangorpro as well.
