The battery still drains quickly when using mobile data
Calls are still too quiet.
Both issues have been around for months.
Please: Fix the bugs first, then add new features. (That’s why I personally can’t recommend /e/ to non-techies.)

I noticed reduced battery usage with my FP6 since 3.7.3, you can check in settings-> battery usage what is causing the usage.
You can check it by apps or by system.

I collated your FP4 low volume feedback here Issues reported on v3.6 (#9277) · Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab (as done before with related feedback from everyone who provided it, so thanks all again) and we’ll wait official and detailed news about the upcoming 4.0 to see if this issue will be tackled (otherwise I will try specifically asking at that time).
So far no official news afaic.

FP5 Official

It looks like automatic dark mode and night time is not working. Manual switching does, but by time or automatic location not. GitHub issues suggests its broken since ~8 months.

All apps are working as before. It is working for two weeks now. No problems found so far. Even call volume is sufficient in version 3.7.3 official (some users complained about too low call volume. I never had this problem including previous versions. Maybe there are different hardware versions of FP4?).

As always: Thanks to the devs for this (almost) Google-free OS!

Just a personal finding, perhaps interesting for other regulars dealing with the FAIRPHONE :three:

Today I tried to repeat the From A13-official to A15-community in one go exercise that had been successful back in September 2025. This time, the FP3 (a different one) was (and remains) on 3.7.2-official and I deliberately locked the bootloader before the attempt. I tried Apply Update in the /e/ recovery as back then, this time to 3.7.3-A15-community. It simply did not work anymore, despite various changes of parameters before several repeated attempts.

I kept getting this error message ...

… regardless of bootloader status (i did unlock it later on for another unsuccessful attempt), regardless of USB debugging and/or OEM unlocking being activated or not in developer options. I also re-downloaded the zip file, it returned the same error message. The error message is 100 % identical to back then – I just don’t get the choice offered anymore to go through with the installation in defiance of the signature error. Perhaps I was just lucky to slip through a code loophole back then, and it might have been closed in the meantime.

Update, appears WiFi is stuck on “turning on”.

Is there an update on a fix please?

Since you are experimenting … how about flashing an older boot.img when the bootloader is unlocked? This should result in an older recovery with the perhaps more lenient verification?
3.0.4-t which you had as the base back then is still available.

You could also try different versions of ADB, if available to you.

Thanks for this :+1: Cannot do much more testing anytime soon (the device is being lent to another Fairphoner tomorrow for trying out if she gets along with /e/OS in general). Later this summer I should have it back. Bookmarked your reply and downloaded 3.0.4. now so I might try it out then.

Stock installed Android, used the official guide for e/os installation.

Issue: SMS and phone calls mostly won’t work at all (Switzerland/Sunrise). If I switch flightmode on and off, it works again for some time. Internet connection works fine though.

  1. When device is unlocked and home screen is visible, and when receiving incoming phone calls, no caller dialog popup is shown. The incoming call is only visible in the notification center. This happens on …
  • Default phone calls
  • WhatsApp calls
  1. A lot of times during the day, a short vibration can be noticed. The notification center does not show any new events. Why is this triggered?
  2. No hands free calls can be executed in the car. The incoming call sound is played using the car stereo. After accepting the call, the audio is not redirected to/from the car stereo.

  3. Multiple retries where required to download the latest update. The download keeps aborting while the device remains unlocked.

Recently, after taking my phone out of my pocket the screen was rapidly changing between Developer mode, Boot screens and Lockscreen. I had to power off the device and reboot. I can tell you it did cause me to panic.

Also it has started playing up again at night time. When I connect the charging cable (I have always used a 1+ 3T charger and USB cable), power off the device at either lock screen or after logging in, the phone reboots when it should stay off and show charging level.

Never had any of these issues with FP 3+ also from Murena.

Just discovered hotspot is not working because WiFi does not turn on. Pretty inconvenient as I need it for work occasionally.

Does anyone know when there will be a fix? Or where I go to to get updates? Or who I can talk to about this issue, please?

It’s looking like it might be fixed in v4.0 to be released later this month.

Sorry for asking again, but - can anyone confirm that 3.7.3 for FP3 does not exist so the fact that my phone can’t see any updates is normal? Thanks
