Hi,

Trying to upgrade my Sony XA2 “pioneer” from 3.5-a15-20260212581008-community-pioneer to /e/OS 3.7.1 as suggested by settings / system updates.

Same results at the previous trial with /e/OS 3.6 : Feedback for v3.6 - #167 by sonyxa2

So my idea to skip 3.6 and see if 3.7 would work was not effective.

Any clue what could be wrong? Still wondering why 3.5 was OK, but not 3.4 3.6 and 3.7.1 … anything to do with the A / B slots?

I am wondering if the only solution would be local update (in the past, I did it with a USB key), and at this point, if I have to reinstall and reconfigure everything, move from A15 to A16 ….

Hi, today I updated to 3.7.1. Since then I can only do calls with the loudspeaker. The option to disable it and only use the phone close to my ear is not shown in the user interface anymore. Is anyone experiencing something similiar and has an idea what to do about it?

Did you do an online search for earlier / existing error enablefilecrypto_failed?

I don`t have direct advice but this is reported associated with hardware storage failure and in more severe cases with loosely speaking some possibility of “contamination” between slots of an earlier Android version. Checking back you reported

(after a couple of trials: first installation failed, error message saying I had to “format” whatever partition and reinstall…).

From this report it is a little difficult to tell whether the Android version upgrade was 100% OK.

However your phone has continued working.

In light of the above I would be sure to to have the phone well backed up. One of the indicators against dirty upgrade (thinking next time), imho, is that there are no device faults which survive ordinary updates.

A fresh install a16 with flash both slots may be extreme but would test whether there was any incipient hardware degradation.

Installation of the updates went fine.

Didn’t test very much (the bangkk is currently just my fall-back device) but there are no new bugs observed so far.

Since flashing ROMs is not my cup of tea, I am not sure everything is clear to me

The phone is now running /e/OS 3.5 A15 (as in the previous trial of update, after 4 times I press the “try again” button, the phone boots into the previous running OS).

I can now plan the upgrade to /e/OS 3.7.1 A16, which should wipe everything (so I will do after having the time to update all the backups ), but how can I check if there was any hardware or software failure? I mean, how can I make sure it will not happen again?

I tried to choose my words not to be alarmist. I had not read of the error before. What I said is really as much as I know, sorry. Perhaps you should at least be prepared for the worst and hope it just resolves (??) … or ofc wait for better advice, I don’t have “hands on” experience with Sony.

I tried all possible mods, changing CameraAPI. Whether with Camera or OpenCamera nothing works, only camera 3 wants to work.

Camera didn’t show other camera to choose. Same with OpenCamera.

This is mainly to report that a dirty Android upgrade went well. No real issues encounterred since.

There is just one tiny, but annoying thing. It has been there since I use this device with /e/ OS but seems to happen more often now. If a call comes in and the screen is turned on, most of the times the dialer doesn’t open in full screen mode but as a pop up. This goes also for the login screen - in which case I have to login first before I’m able to answer the call. Not sure if I’m missing a special setting here, but I really don’t like this behaviour.

I can’t use several apps since the last upgrade (3.7.1). The apps keep crashing, or they just don’t load, I get stuck in the welcome page of my banking app for example, or I can open my mail app but cannot read the mails…

I tried to uninstall and install some apps back. I tried deleting the cache. Nothong works.

How can I solve this ?

Regarding my banking app, it used to work just fine. My main issue with apps (mail, banking, hiking…) is that I can open the app but the content does not load. Either it crashes or it just loads indefinitely. I can open my mail app but can’t read my mail. I can open the banking app but the login page does not load, I can open my hiking app but it crashes I soon as I hit the search button… Even after reboot, deleting the cache, or even uninstalling and installing the apps back, it still does not work. It used to work before the update.

Sounds odd…
You may try rebooting into safe mode and see if that helps in any way for troubleshooting (like for mail app in case you use the integrated one).
Long press on/off button → reboot → long press system → safe mode
(Be prepared though that all app icons on the homescreen will probably be mixed up after booting again into normal mode afterwards)

I have no other idea on that matter for now, maybe others do…

What was your OS version before the update, can you still tell?

Updated two FP3s to 3.7.2-t yesterday. Much more reliable now. Things work again.

Did the update possibly change settings of Advanced Privacy? Try all AP off and restart. Please can you be specific is it the default Mail app misbehaving.

Thanks ! My mail app is Proton Mail. I tried the safe mode and turning AP off, it does not work. AP was already off.

Hello, after updating my Fairphone 6 to version 3.7.1, many apps, including DKB online banking app, keep crashing shortly after trying to open them. Under 3.7 everything worked fine. Looking for help here.

FP6 user here. I can’t relate with that problem. Have you tryed a reboot?
