Updates on both devices went without issues. Only seedvault backup to nextcloud is still missing.

Thank you for the update

all the reports incite me to stay with eOS4 and wait for 4.3

Hello
Device name: The Fairphone (Fairphone Gen. 6 bought at Murena Shop)
Device CodeName: FP6
Previously: 4.1.1-a16-official
Device not rooted
Bootloader : locked

My observations after Update 4.2 :

  • The phone’s consumption has skyrocketed. Battery life has been cut in half.
  • Unlocking the phone by fingerprint works less well.
  • Untimely screen freezes occur regularly.
  • Boursobank still not work.

I hope for a solution for the first point…:sob:

No more issues after two weeks of use.

Best regards

About battery life after an update:

I once read about this hint, that you should clear your cache after updating the os. I did that every time since then.

I hope this helps.

Thank you @toggiburger for your answer.
I’ll load CacheCleaner and try…

The problem with CacheCleaner is that it now says it’s for an older Android version. OK, you can ignore this, but it’s also that it seems to stop now before having all apps cleaned - somehow it never runs to the end. And you do then not know how far it came …

I suggest SD Maid 2/SE (from F-Droid) now. An important difference is that SD Maid cleans also other storages, looks for empty directories, log files, temporary files and more. And you must pay attention on that, otherwise you can lose data. If you don’t exactly know what it does you should strictly switch these actions all off except one category: the so called AppCleaner. The AppCleaner does exactly the job of the ancient CacheCleaner, it cleans the caches of all apps, and it comes indeed to the designated end.

The more you know…

Now this helped me a ton as well! Thank you :folded_hands:

As for Pixel 4a sunfish:
Bliss Launcher has an issue with the lower app row (the one that persists whilst sideway-wiping the screens)
Every once in a while the row jumps one row up and stays there (the app icons above also move closer together! …as if the launcher forgets the correct height of the screen resolution).
Clearing the cache of Bliss launcher does not help but only a reboot brings the row back to its original position at the very bottom of the screen.
That jump happens regularly but I have no idea what triggers it…

Problems with the answering machine. Unable to delete messages on answering machine, already read messages that show as unread (notifications).

Hi, if by answering machine you meant your voice mail it might be provided by your mobile network provider and may have nothing to do with OS, unless numerical keyboard at fault not letting you select the relevant option number?

Or did you mean something else?

The selfie camera has a white haze.

Thank you @irrlicht for your feedback. I’ll try this new option.

Hello grzecel,

Thank you for your interest. I have a problem with the phone app. Messages no longer delete after manual reading or deletion (they reappear). It’s since the last update.

@Mumu22 I see, thank You for explaining. With some apps after upgrade, according to other users, clearing cache of the app sometimes helps, not data but just cache in app details within settings. Maybe try that? Won’t do harm…

  • Vendor Name: Motorola

  • Device name: Moto Edge 30

  • Device CodeName: Dubai

  • Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: e/OS v3.7.3 A15

  • Not rooted

I really want to give some feedback, but there is no v4.2 for my device. Actually, there isn’t any v4 version, v3.7.3 is the latest one.

Why dubai hasn’t any v4 yet?

Clearing the cache and storage provides a much clearer picture.

Vendor Name: Fairphone

Device name: The Fairphone 6

Device CodeName: FP6 (Gen 6)

Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: official /e/OS version pushed before 4.2

Is the device Rooted / Not rooted: No

Current version: 4.2-a16-20260815662938-official-FP6

Symptom: Since 4.2, Xiaomi Redmi Buds Play 6 bluetooth connection is made automatically and disconnects a few seconds later. Manual reconnection is necessary. Afterwards it stays connected.

Expected behavior: The connection is made automatically without needing to do it manually a second time.

Hi,

  1. Vendor Name: Samsung
  2. Device name: Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F)
  3. Device CodeName: starlte
  4. Version of /e/OS or Stock which existed previously: 4.1
  5. Not rooted

On 4.2:

  • smooth install, almost no problems, almost all apps working,
  • improvement: sending SMS works again (which had stopped with 4.0) - thank you for fixing!
  • problem: sudden reboots of the device (which occur since 4.0). Two versions of them:
    • reproducible: open OSMAND~ (FOSS version), start to calculate a long (>500km) navigation route with offline maps > while calculating, device crashes and reboots
    • random: 1) on receiving a certain message on Signal app some time ago, and 2) very recently today, few minutes after 11:00 CEST (the time when in Germany the cell broadcast alarm system was tested): I received no notification but the phone rebooted without any interaction on my side, but with the blue notification LED blinking while the boot logo was displayed (so I am not sure about the connection to the alarm notification). battery 85%.

I’m also waiting. Hopefully 4.3 works
