FP3: Power key bounces

I have a three month old Fairphone 3, where the power key bounces now, currently approximately once a week.

This means, that a single-press is treated as a double-press, which opens the Camera app, which has in turn to be closed again.

I have already looked in Settings, System, Buttons, Power Button section, if there is an option to disable this behavior, to no avail.

Is there an official or hacky way to disable calling the Camera app or to increase the necessary time between two presses to recognize a double-press?

I can’t help you with this issue.

But to reduce the amount of key pressings I use the app WaveUp (F-Droid) which allows to wake up the device using the approximity sensor, this means completely without the Power key. A device can be run for weeks without a single key press this way. This could also be a help when the key is already demaged.

An FP3 has the approx sensor at the top near the LED.

(I would like to have a screen gesture for that. Blackberry devices had a swipe from the bottom to half of the screen for wake up, easily executable with a thumb and robust enough for every day use, but the WaveUp developer says this is too complicated.)

Use the search function of the Settings to search for “camera” … it’s “Jump to camera” then.

I would advise to contact /e/ support nonetheless if the phone was bought from the e foundation.
Fairphone support would need you to install Fairphone OS again first before being able to help.
