FP4 low volume at phone calls (speaker) (not loud speaker)

Hello,

when making a phone call the volume at max is still too low.

Also there are only 4 steps for volume adjustment.

Hello, here FP4 e/os 3.7.3 it seems loudspeaker is working (I’ll check if it is low or ok) but microphone when using loudspeaker is not working at all. Everything is fine with standard calls.

Phone calls too low still on 3.7.3 - too low to take phone calls in public places with some noise around. Having a phone (and a quite common device) with which one cannot call is quite a serious issue… no? Hopefully solved with 4.0??

I also see this issue with /e/OS 4.0. It is almost impossible to take calls in noisy public places.

In a parallel fp4 low volume thead we saw

Two Gitlab issues exist

That is not seen for instance in fp3, can you perhaps demonstrate this with a screen recording as Speaker too quiet during calls - #19 by aibd

Maybe it was corrected for version 4.0 A16.

I have 4.0-a14 installed.

Not in my case: FP4 with 4.0-a14-20260610633982-official-FP4. When receiving a phone call, it is impossible to hear the conversation without a headset, etc. This needs to be fixed!

Just adding that I’m having the same issue. Running 4.0-a14-20260610633982-official-FP4 after coming from Ubuntu Touch. In Ubuntu Touch the call volume was louder. Also tried switching to the Fossify Phone app but same low volume limit there. Everything else has been great though!

I also have this issue and I should have searched the forum first. I ended up changing the earpiece in my FP4 because of low volume on calls, but it did not help. I don’t make too many calls without BT HF device, so I don’t know when this issue has appeared.

I’m also running 4.0-a14-20260610633982-official-FP4.

I also have this embarrassing issue with my FP4 running e/os 4.0 a14. Being new to this community I wonder how we can developers make aware of this issue?

It is a case that users should Report an issue.

Before that please check out my comments in Post #10 … you will see linked two issues but surprisingly few user comments.

Just switched to /e/OS. Call volume is a huge problem on FP4 with current /e/OS 4, making it unusable.

Would love to comment or bump on e-foundation gitlab as @aibd suggests, but neither my private email, nor my university email, nor my company email are accepted for registration.

The Report an issue link deals with this in the paragraph Getting an error message in new ID creation on /e/OS Gitlab.

We are advised to use an email address derived from registration at murena.io.
