Hi. I recently went to a concert and recorded a few videos using my FP6 with e/OS default camera app. The audio quality is really bad, it’s basically unlistenable. I remember a similar issue back in e/OS 3.5, where the videos had mono audio. That was fixed on 3.7 I think, but now either the issue is back, or something else is wrong.
I can’t really share an example because the file size is too big without compressing it (which could affect the audio) and youtube is blocking it due to copyright (eventhough it’s unlisted).
Is this a hardware limitation? Is this the best that this phones mic can record? Or is this a software issue? For example can an alternative camera app fix this? If yes, which app would you recommend?
You might want specify which camera app you mean. I believe Murena now ships Fairphones with both their own camera app (a fork of OpenCamera) and Fairphone’s native camera app.

There’s an option in Apps to enable the /e/os Camera if wanted, otherwise the FP6 now just has the Fairphone camera as described. I’m not sure if it’s been modified in any way, the icon is as shown below, not as above.
@micnocom I am afraid you will not get the same high sound quality with a FP6 compared to an iPhone.
You should try both camera, then decide to keep the least bad.
I use the Fairphone one and never tried the other.
I only use my FP6 to take some pictures from time to time else I use a dedicated camera.
