The update 4.2 changelog says: “Flip covers are now supported”. Very nice, I’ve got one (not an official FP one), but what does this mean? A search in settings (flip or cover) does not show up anything. My FP6 behaves like before. Anyone a hint?

I have one too and a little test reveald that the phone now shuts off automatically when you close it so I think that is what they ment.
Nothing happens, the backlight dims, but that is normal because it is dark inside. Anyway, it does not get into sleep mode over here. Anyone knows how the FP6 detects the closure of the flip? The flip I use is a little bit magnetic at the side.

When you use the phone for a call, does the screen turns off if you put something on the captor?
Until someone with more expertise chimes in, I would assume that the functionality uses the proximity sensor (should be located somewhere very close to the earspeaker).
Yes, it does, but only during a phone call. I suppose the proximity sensor is used, but the phone behaves like before and does not get into sleep mode. And I would have expected some flip cover settings somewhere.
Just to clarify, did you own an “official” FP cover or a generic one? Asking because it may have some influence on the behavior of the phone.
No, it is not an FP one. Just a generic flip cover of a few euros.
