FP6 records very bad (clipped) audio in loud environments

Hi,

yes, this can be the fault of Fairphone, but I did not get a response on a question/ticket there. It affects the stock camera app, the special camera app, and the audio recorder as well.

The level in which audio gets recorded is way too high, and all three apps do not have an attenuator or level control, neither automatic nor manual. Only one of the camera apps shows a level indicator, but that does not indicate any clipping, but artefacts are dominant.

In a nutshell: It is impossible to record live music with a Fairphone 6 (/e/OS Murena 3.5). The video quality is excellent, the audio is crap. Sad, but true.

And it does not take a discotec, a normal party situation is already too much to handle for a FP6.

This could be alleviated (to a certain degree) if attenuator features get implemented in these apps…

Thanks

There is a video on Youtube (not from me, but this shows exactly my problem) to “illustrate” the immensity of that problem. A real world situation where smartphone owners may want to record:

And seemingly both Murena /e/OS and stock (Android) Fairphones are affected, and according to ancient discussions on Fairphone user fora, this even goes back to the FP 4…

This issue deteriorated from my FP3 /e/OS to FP6 Murena. I really hope for a Solution.

FP6 is great for regular use BTW.
