Getting notifications to work for FluffyChat

Hi,

i despreratly trying to get notification to work for FluffyChat.

I installed the appstore version which has support both for Firebase as well als ntfy, but will default to ntfy if detected.

Problem is: e os comes with a non working ntfy that can’t be disabled (the switch in the settings “Enable the distributor” does not seems to do anything. It doesn’t work either way.

Installing notify manually also doesn’t workas it will default to the built in it seems.

FluffyChat has no way to force Firebase.

Can i somehow deactivate the built in ntfy via adb?

Or did anyone manage to get it running?

can´t say anything about fluffychat but correct function of the eOS-system-integrated ntfy is highly device dependant from what I experience.

for instance integrated ntfy works flawleessly in my pixel 4a (3.2 A15 community).

Integrated ntfy does not work in my S7 Samsung (3.1.4 A12 official)

However, on my S7, an install of the original ntfy app works perfectly (disable the integrated ntfy function in the device’s system settings and always select the lower of the two ntfy options available when prompted or asked to do so by the app that wants to use ntfy).

Have you tested ntfy function with UP-example?

Up-example works with both the built in and the manually installed

Element X works with neither

FluffyChat does not offer to select which one to use and i think it’s using the built in one and doesn’t work with it.

there was a blogpost that contained hints on how to change the ntfy server for the built-in ntfy but is offline now- here is a snapshot: https://web.archive.org/web/20241209170945/https://wrily.foad.me.uk/going-google-free-with-unifiedpush-in-e-os
and here is a related issue with FOSS warn app which was solved by these hints … well, least from what I understand…
… maybe there´s something in it that you can make use of

i also found that ntfy.sh might be rate limiting matrix.org, but that should be whitelisted, but maybe matrix.org changed its ips and so the whitlisting doesn’t work anymore …

i would be fine with using firebase as a workaround, but e os sadly has no way to fully disable the built in ntfy

for the time being i will be using element x, here firebase can be explicitly selected
