Gigaset GX4 / GX4 Pro – Official device tree available, looking for e/OS builder

Hi everyone,

I’d like to revive the request for e/OS support on the Gigaset GX4 / GX4 Pro.

I recently came across something that significantly lowers the bar for a potential build: Gigaset themselves have published an official LineageOS device tree for the GX4 on their own GitHub account:

The branch is lineage-23.2 (Android 14), with 235 commits – so this is not just a stub, but a solid foundation.

The GX4 / GX4 Pro is a compelling candidate for e/OS support:

  • Rugged outdoor smartphone (IP68, MIL-STD-810H)
  • Removable battery (rare and sustainable!)
  • Made in Germany
  • MediaTek Helio G99 (MT6789)
  • Android 14 already available from Gigaset

I have already successfully installed the unofficial e/OS build on a Gigaset GX290 (thanks to the great work done there!), and I would love to do the same on my GX4 Pro as my daily driver.

A special shoutout to @chr – your work on the GX290 build is exactly the kind of effort this device needs. If you or anyone else in the community would be willing to attempt a build based on the existing device tree, it would be hugely appreciated.

The hard part – the device-specific groundwork – has already been done by Gigaset. Someone just needs to build it.

Happy to help with testing!

Thanks in advance.

there’s an existing unofficial GX4 Android 14 build:

unsure about the official nature of the account, nonetheless..

Hi tcecyk,

thank you so much for the quick response! This is exactly what I was hoping for. I will give the build a try and report back.

Many thanks also to @ronnz98 for the build
