I recently started with e/os on a Fairphone 4 to try it out and see if this worked for me. I found it not that easy to get it working and understanding how this is worked an how I can get the most out of it.
In this challenge I found something that I don’t understand.
In the standard e/os mail app I have 3 email addresses connected. 1 Gmail account and 2 Yahoo accounts.
The Yahoo accounts work bot fine in sending and receiving e-mails
The Gmail account is receiving and sending e-mails but It gives an error on sending and the send mail does not appear in the send mail folder. The mail does appear in the send mail when I look in the Gmail app.
This is annoying behavior because now I have to stil use original Google mail.
What could be the cause of this?
I was used to use Thunderbird mail as a client to connect to all my mail addresses and this Severs me good for more then a decade. Why is Thunderbird not a possible app in e/os while Firefox is?
I looked in the appstore earlyer and found the ap wij a remark n/a and assumed it was not available. I now see the real issue, just the photo is missing…
I installed Thunderbird ad got it working. I will try sending mail and will report if there still is a problem.
I still do no understand what is going wrong in the official e/os mail app…
The same issue occured now in Thunderbird, te mail is send from my Gmail account cannot be seen in the Gmail out box in Thunderbird bus is send and ears in the outbox of Gmail.
There must be some kind of fault in the configuration in e/os maybe?
I do not use any Google products (well except this AOSP /e/OS) so cannot help but running Google products in a degoogled phone may require you to learn more advanced workarounds.
you have IMAP enabled for Gmail (I assume, without there’d be an earlier error).
Each IMAP account has a mapping of major folders: inbox, sent, drafts → I’d guess the mapping is wrong at least for “sent”. “Settings → Accounts → n → Folders → Sent Folder → Automatic (Sent)” - here you might need to use somthing different, see their docs.
There’s also an “Settings → Accounts → n → Sending Mail → [X] Upload sent messages to Sent folder after sending” that obv. needs enabling (by default it is).
