It’s down for a lot of people https://downdetector.co.uk/status/gov-uk/
Possibly due to bigger problems with AWS.
still not working today. It looks like it’s something else
their status says its all good
It’s not making sense to me why this advice. people can get it from the store.
“Make sure you’re not using private browsing, also known as ‘incognito’, in your web browser when downloading the app. “
I think that your first link is about the Government One Login, rather than the app.
Maybe it would be more suitable?
If you prefer not to use the app … I think the page is found from Using your GOV.UK One Login: Sign in to your GOV.UK One Login - GOV.UK
i can login via the website, but the One Login service setup requires a smartphone to validate the ID. When i open the app, gives me that error.
i’ve removed the app, went to the website, scanned the QR code, took me to the App Lounge, installed and opened the app.
One of the tries i’ve done, somehow, it did open a url in the browser, but then it says that i need to go back to the app, and the itent seems to be broken.
the url it goes to, to get a token, is not in the app is not in the supported links in the app “Open by default” in the android settings. It’s odd though, if that’s the case , no one else would be able to use the service. Unless something on the eos is messing up the intents. I’ve cleared the intents and default opens from the web browser, but still no luck.
I can see that one is constantly pushed towards the app but I read Using your GOV.UK One Login: Proving your identity with GOV.UK One Login - GOV.UK
There are 3 ways to prove your identity with GOV.UK One Login:
- with the GOV.UK One Login app
- by answering security questions online
- at a Post Office
Might option 2 work?
While i do appreciate the help , i’m looking to have the app working. This is a fundamental service. there’s no alternative provider
It’s not just you, I’ve been struggling with exactly the same problem this afternoon. FP3+, v3.1.4-t-official, not rooted.
I’d tried the security questions option first, but it said it couldn’t use them to prove my ID for some reason. I then downloaded the app from App Lounge and am seeing exactly what you describe - problem signing in. Post Office verification the only option left for me so will try that next.
I’m hoping this is just a one off validation issue and that I’ll then be able to login and use the website fuly as needed.
Installed the One Login App … boo.
I too am denied logging in on both my phones with: ‘There was a problem signing you in’.
I have two Samsung phones, S7 (v 3.14) and S9 (v3.2).
Tried answering the security questions, but answered one incorrectly - so system bounced me out of that verification avenue … dont particularly fancy a trip to post office - but guess that might have to be done.
I see the App has the Googles Firebase tracker in it, the article below writes ‘extensive information’ … so presume all number of metrics will have trotted off to Google Servers - and then onto HMRC AWS servers.
I should have looked at the permissions in Advanced Privacy or Exodus - but was in bit of a hurry.
Have uninstalled it all for now.
Why is this App not working, are our stealthy e/OS phones blocking something - which the One Login App does not like.
Found this article:
Which advises:
’selfie biometrics for remote ID verification will be deleted after 30 days’
and*
’verification at a Post Office’ … ‘is deleted after 11 days’.
and
’system logs will store extensive information about how One Login is used for a year, accounts will remain active for up to five years after their last use, and audit logs will be kept for seven years for fraud monitoring purposes’.
and*
’information from ID documents shared with One Login can be passed on to HM Revenue and Customs, the Passport Office and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agencies for Britain and Ireland. Anti-fraud data could also be shared with law enforcement agencies and the Home Office.’
I notice that the app does declare a dependency on Google Play.
