I heard that Motorola has approached GrapheneOS about installing it on their phones. Are there similar plans for /e/OS? With Motorola or another manufacturer?
A seamlessly integrated OS and hardware is ideal, isn’t it?
Because I’ve heard that the Pixels have disappointing battery life.
I’m hoping Motorola or another manufacturer will offer phones with a longer battery life.
I think that Murena already collaborates with Fairphone, Shiftphone, Teracube, and HIROH (as well as Volla for the tablet). However, the collaboration of GrapheneOS and Motorola may be much closer because GrapheneOS has strict requirements when it comes to the security hardware.
Hence, I would say that it depends what seamless integration means for /e/OS. As a non-expert, I would say that
an unlockable bootloader (and re-lockable for custom ROMs)
long firmware & chipset support
open device tree
long security update & Android upgrade support
are sufficient for /e/OS, which should already be the case with the brands mentioned above.
I therefore do not think that a special cooperation like in the case of GrapheneOS & Motorola is necessary.
At the same time, I certainly do not want to dismiss your suggestion, @Cycle_Maniac - the more brands and manufacturers officially support /e/OS, the better!
