Help with alarm sound on FP5 when phone is locked

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping someone can help me with an alarm issue on my Fairphone FP5 running /e/os version 2.4.1.

Issue details:

  • I’m trying to set a specific song as my alarm tone in the Clock app. Selecting the song is no problem; I can choose music either stored on the phone or on an SD card.
  • The preview of the alarm sound works fine, and when the phone is unlocked, the alarm plays the selected song perfectly.

Problem: When the phone is locked, the alarm still activates, but instead of my chosen song, I just hear a buzzer sound. The phone powers on for the alarm, but it only plays the buzzer until I unlock it.

Does anyone know how I can get my selected music to play when the phone is locked? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m I the only one having this problem, or wanting to be wake up with a specific sound ?

How about try to set a Silent alarm, say 2 minutes, ahead of your tuneful alarm. Maybe only as a test but this might illuminate whether the alarm performs differently in its nighttime power.

Thank you for your response.

I already tried that, but it made no difference. I still can’t get the chosen sound to work until I unlock the phone at least once after startup.

This won´t help much, but still: I had this problem 2-3 years ago with another phone using simple clock and another clock I cannot remember. I think it had to do with new rules for permissions that the android system had acquired at that time.
I do have a FP5 now (ordered from Murena, now running 2.5) and the custom alarms work without problem for both the system clock and for the app “clock you”.

Do any of the pre-installed alarm sounds work?

Have you considered if the size or format of your “awakening tune” is significant? Can you experiment with different files?

Did you check permissions?

Settings > Apps > Clock > I see “No permissions denied”. However the permissions are set from 3 dot menu top right of that page.

Well,
In fact, it seems only the default alarm is working, which is “platinium old”.

However, when choosing “platinium old” in the list and not “default alarm sound”, it’s not woking anymore.

I don’t see anything strange on permission level.

I can reproduce this if I try to adjust an existing alarm … up to a point.

I seemed to find that the way to change the alarm sound was to start from a new alarm, that is by setting the time freshly.

But having done three rounds of testing with three different sounds, including “add a sound”, now the “default sound” seeming as if pre-selected seems absent and I have a free range of sounds to select.

Well, I tried with new alarms, not working neither.
So I really have no idea on how to fix this issue
