Hello I’m new here, I’m curious if we can spoof or fake the telephony data out of the box
I knew a couple third-party app that requires lsposed but i wanna know if it’s possible here , without it
I’ve watched a few reviews but none of them showing about telephony privacy, mostly just geolocation spoof
It’s somewhat challenging to spoof geolocation data from your cell carrier, who owns the towers you’re connecting to. Sure, you can spoof GPS data (/e/OS does this out of the box), but you can’t simultaneously connect to a cell tower and tell the cell tower you’re not connected to it.
Moreover, I’d submit that even if such a system were possible, that it’s not in /e/'s best interest to implement. Privacy is one thing, but such functionality is going to get the attention of cellular carriers. While carriers blocking devices running AOSP / third party ROMs would be extreme, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, either.
To me, it seems too risky to start spoofing data that cellular carriers will care about.
