How Do I Set an Image for a Contact? - more information

Hello

There’s a closed post How Do I Set an Image for a Contact? - Using /e/OS - /e/OS community from eric_42.

As of now, I’m facing exactly the same issue. Therefore I will provide a few additional information only.

aibd provided a picture https://community.e.foundation/uploads/default/original/3X/d/5/d533aa5481d07515873c70c80947cf9e886ee4da.jpeg that is different to what will be displayed on my phone.

aibd:

On top, there’a narrow line of icons showing status information.

Below is a wide free area. Within this area a save button is visible.

Below this area there’s shaded area, that is twice as wide, as the area with the save button

Below this area the selected picture is visible.

What I see on my phone:

A narrow line of status icons - (same as aibd)

A narrow line of free space - (different to aibd)

A wide shaded area. - (same as aibd)

My picture below. - (same as aibd)

Comparing areas with the ones in aidb’s picture leeds to the asumption that the save button will be displayed more or less above the upper edge of the physical display size of my phone. This means outside of my phone’s display

Only some pixels from the lower part of the save button get hidden behind the status line.

Please let me know, whenever additional information is needed to find the root cause of this bug.

Michael

In a different thread this is marked solution Unable to change contact photo (Fairphone 4) - #6 by aibd. Here the problem is that the Save button appears black on black, have you some variation of that problem perhaps.

Thanks for the 2nd post.

I did some tests with bright mode, dark mode and the setting below dark mode (size and text?). There’s a switch saying text with high contrast.

I’m using a German system with activated bright mode.

What I did:

  • try to use the save button in bright mode. It had been hidden behind the system status icons.
  • change to dark mode.
The save button had been completely visible below the system status icons.
However, save could hardly be read, because a a very low contrast, The colors of the letters have been dark grey.
  • change to bright mode
The section below the system status icons gained size. The save button was not hidden behind the system status icons anymore, it was - not visible - at the spot, where is was supposed to be.
  • adding high contrast
the save button was still not visible, however a foggy area show up, indication the save button.
  • change to dark mode with high contrast
The save button still dark grey color has been decorated with a foggy area around.
