No matter which app I tap on my phone, they all open with Magic Earth. And since it’s a default app, I can’t delete it.
Question: Is there a setting somewhere where I can specify which app opens a file?

Sounds odd, can you elaborate?
Do you tap on the files in the preinstalled Files App or anywhere else?
Which different file types are you trying to open, e.g. is PDF among them? Are pictures affected, too?
Search for “default apps” in your phone settings.
The problem has now been resolved.
You can’t uninstall Magic Earth from your phone, but I tried anyway.
I got a message saying the app couldn’t be uninstalled, but I did see the app’s logo (purple with three stripes) change back to the regular Magic Earth logo. So apparently, another app had been installed over it or something. Now that it’s gone, everything is working as expected again.
