How to transfer music from my Mac to Android (samsung phone)?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to transfer music from my Mac to my Samsung phone, but I’m not really sure what the easiest way is. I just want to copy my songs over without anything too complicated, and I’m a bit confused about how to do it properly. If anyone knows a simple method or can explain it step by step, I’d really appreciate the help.

The fastest way is to put your SD card from your mobile into your Mac and copy all files directly there. Then you put the SD card back into your mobile. (I have all my music on the SD card, this allows later an easy change of the device without copying again …)

The second fastest way is to use an USB connection between both devices. This allows also to copy the files into the device memory instead of the SD card.

A much slower way is to use FTP.

Hello @jacoblawson3344, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

Take a look at this software : syncthing

It’s free, it’s FOSS, and it uses local network to sync folders across multiple devices. I use it to sync data across my phone an laptop. It might take a long time on your first sync (local wifi allow for a few tens of Mb/s), but it can be suspended and resumed.

had my previous recommendation for Mac users and transfering files (music too) here:

there’s a few friendly syncthing wrappers to be had, esp. synctrain has already many positive reviews

Another vote for OpenMTP. Works well fro copying files between phone & Mac, so long as you don’t let the screen lock kick in during file transfer.

Install MacDroid to make your Android phone appear as a local drive in Finder, allowing easy drag-and-drop of music folders. Paid feature.

Thank you for all your answers! Very informative. I’ll try everything and see what works best and feels most convenient for me.
