Impossible to update any app, or access the App Lounge for Fairphone 6 on /e/os

Hello dear community,

I received my Fairphone 6 in August with the /e/os build. I hardly customized it, I didn’t root it or did anything that wasn’t recommended regarding the parameters.

For the past week I noticed a deep issue with my phone. Every app after the other is becoming obsolete and requests an update, that I can’t manage to install. When I click on the eventual update link, I get a white page that doesn’t lead me anywhere. I cannot install any other installer to bypass the issue either.

Now when I open the default update software (App Lounge), I am disconnected and can’t get it to connect in any way :

  • If I try to connect with Google services, I get a error page saying “net::ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED”;

  • If I connect anonymously, the pages of the app seem to be loading indefinitely;

  • If I select only the PWA and open sources apps, I get a prompt saying “An error occurred while loading the application. This may be due to an absence of feedback from the server, or another server error” (rough translation);

  • It is of course impossible to update the App Lounge itself.

  • Any attempt to download an update from the web takes me to a white page that doesn’t load.

I notice that when I am trying to download an update for any app or when I open App Lounge, I get a symbol appearing on the system tray at the top of the screen that seems to be linked to the firewall (crossed Earth symbol), however I can’t reach the parameters for the firewall and don’t remember changing any related parameter.

My phone is slowly becoming a brick as more and more app are becoming obsolete by the day. I can’t find any similar issue on this forum or on the /e/os help forum, could a charitable soul help me with this issue ?

Thanks in advance,

T. Evrard

Have you tried to “reset” the App Lounge?

Settings > Apps > See all … apps > App Lounge > Storage and cache > Clear Storage / clear cache

Yes, I cleared the history and cache, then I restarted the phone without any change.

To save a lot of typing fp6 has suffered like this App Lounge and Aurora Store not working - #21 by aibd and a fix is indicated in 3.3 later this month.

App lounge N/A FP5 - #3 by tcecyk will reveal method of workaround with Auora store spoofing manager.

For an estimate when 3.3 will come, see moderator Manoj’s latest update :right_arrow: Week 50, 2025: Development and Testing Updates (highly recommended: Follow his weekly updates in the long run :slightly_smiling_face:) Once the 3.3. update is available, feedback can be given here :right_arrow: Feedback for v3.3

Hello,

I just saw that the v3.3 of e/os will most likely solve the issue, and that it is announced for this week. I hope I will be able to download it, giving that any update seems to be blocked on my phone.

I will wait patiently until then, and give a feedback if the problem persists.

See you then !

@aibd I don’t think this is up the spoofing alley. The fix concerning AppL issues because of the device profile is specific for the FP5

@ThibautE can you try this? Android shows active internet connection, but no apps have internet access - #9 by coco

Thank you very much, it seems the problem is solved. The App Lounge is again able to connect to the internet and updates seem to be on their way.

Hi,

This problem has now reoccurred, I think. When I’m trying to update my apps that come from Google Play, they download eternally.

Interestingly, after I cleared App Lounge’s storage and cache, I was able to update one single app, but no more. Clearing again doesn’t help.

I’m using the App Lounge anonymously as I don’t have a Google account.

e/os/ v3.7.3

App Lounge v2.17.1

ps. I haven’t tested if apps from Fdroid would work. I have the F-droid app installed and I use it to update all the open source apps.

Hi,

In the end the problem was only solved on the short term, some of the apps can’t be updated or downloaded with the App Lounge. I use Aurora Store in parallel and it allows to partly bypass the issue.

Good luck, I’d be very interested to see if a definitive fix can be found.

It seems currently that if there is something “impossible” about the Update list then it may be that App Lounge cannot clear this on its own.
