Install e/OS A14 on Fairphone 4 with A15 ? anti-rollback problems?

Hi,

First time here and I need some help.

I have a new Fairphone 4 running Android 15 (security update 5 Nov 2025) and I want to install e/OS on this device.

The most recent e/OS only support A14=Android 14 ( Install /e/OS on a Fairphone FP4 - “FP4” ).

According to the same page I can not install e/OS A14 because that is lower than A15 (Android 15) running om my phone. Such actions will destroy the phone ?

I first have to roll-back to an earlier (Android 13) version on the Fairphone 4, and then I can install e/OS A14 ? However, I read warnings on the same page, that Fairphone 4 can not be rolled back (from A15 to A13) ? because of anti-rollback features are triggered on FP4 what will destory the phone?

Is there a way to install e/OS for me? / How can I proceed?

Hello @Sweden900, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

(unlike other devices), reading official instructions, i see no mention of expected firmware version to respect.
as relative needed firmware parts are included into the /e/ build, you can have a go !

is old enough if you take current /e/ build, if you want, you will be able to relock without bricking risk.

Thank you. I am still a bit concerned because if you go to the page:

scole a litte down, find “Caution” section in red, and click “Details”, the following information will be seen:“

“Example 3
* Your FP4 runs Google A15 while /e/OS is now available based on A14.
* Your FP4 with Google Android has a Security Patch Level saying 2025-10-03 or October 3rd, 2025.
* The /e/OS build available says: /e/OS build : A15 official (Security patch: 2025-06-05)
* In this example, the /e/OS build has an older Security Patch level than the origin, so the anti-roll back protection will trigger, even if the /e/OS version runs on a more recent version of AOSP. In this example, you will brick your phone.”

What do you think? Help is grateful appreciated so I do not destroy my new phone.

Example 3 demonstrates that Android version change is not the problem; only the attempt to rollback Android SPL is the hazard.

Does that means that: First I roll-back to android 13, then install e/OS, an finally I can lock the bootloader?

It worked. I roll-backed to android 13. Then I installed the latest e/OS A14. Thereafter I locked the bootloader. Thank you for all help.
