Install /e/OS on my Samsung Tablet S5e LTE

Hello there,

is there a possibility to install /e/OS on my Samsung Tablet S5e LTE without installing Recovery (TWRP?)? I might to remember, that I installed /e/OS on my other Tablet (Samsung S6 Lite) only using ADB (or maybe + Heimdall?)… But I can’t remember how (It was two years ago or something)… Anyway, my S6 Lite doesnt have a Recovery. Can someone help me?

Hello @Fanmion, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

For this device, you need to first flash a custom vbmeta.img and a custom recovery.img before using the /e/recovery to finally install the /e/ system

Thank you for the help. If I see it correctly: I need a Windows machine right? I only have Linux and my Distro only provide heimdall and samloader. Is there any chance?

Edit: I saw this guide from lineage ( Install LineageOS on gts4lv | LineageOS Wiki ). They are using samloader. Can I use their methode with /e/OS-images?

You can do it as well using linux.

  • The heimdall provided by the distro is often out of date

you need latest heimdall (link is in the guide)

  • Samloader is unusefull have evolued and is now newly recomended by Lineage wiki, as far as i know, we don’t yet have experience of it here in this forum
