Installation of e/OS on CMF Phone 1

Hello,

Today I tried unsuccessfully to install e/OS on my new CMF Phone 1. First with e/OS Installer, on Windows and MAC. The software was downloaded but always stopped during the boot process. I installed ADP and Fastboot, but still no success. I have read many such cries for help on the internet; unfortunately, it does not seem to be so easy to install. The documentation is very incomplete, the usual mess. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this without having a nervous breakdown?

Best regards,

Jens

Jens, you mean you installed adb correct… What was the search term you used on the internet with the many cries for help?

Have you tried the command line method? Did you first enable developers mode on the phone , enable OEM unlocking an d USB debugging?

I just bought a cmf 1. documentation is not incorrect. documentation is fake. it’s a copy-and-paste of some standard crap.

if you buy a cmf 1 on the market, follow the instructions, upgrade the firmware, you won’t be able to enter developer or debug mode. you won’t find a way. so you won’t go one step beyond. I don’t know if you can work it with the original 2.3 or so ā€˜nothing os’ (nomen, omen) because firmware update is not reversible.

I can understand murena needs some intake, but some people would like to try before paying.

thank you all

Hello @poveropaoletto, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

.

i can’t understand what you say :

i can’t see that in instructions : Install /e/OS on a Nothing Nothing CMF Phone 1 - ā€œtetrisā€
.
if you need to downgrade you firmware base to Android 14, you can follow : GitHub - spike0en/nothing_archive: This project indexes and preserves full firmware, and OTA update links for Nothing and CMF devices, sourced directly from official OEM servers while generating unmodified stock OTA images.
.
to install /e/, follow this :

where you can read :

…

thank you. browsing I found: Smartphone Selector , I selected Install /e/OS on a Nothing Nothing CMF Phone 1 - ā€œtetrisā€ , clicked install,

at the bottom of the page I saw the yellow warning: Prima di procedere con l’installazione, verifica se ĆØ disponibile l’ultima versione del firmware Android per il tuo dispositivo. (before proceeding check last firmware) so I upgraded. I really thank you but I tried on a zenfone, failed, retryed and now downgrading and restarting again, it’s too much for me. Thank you again, Paolo

also there is yet an Android 15 based build, from the user community, not from /e/

Hi

I am trying the same install.

I did update everything first and note it is at Android 15. Could this be a/the problem?

I’ll have a read through the post and link you gave us (thank you) and try taking it back to 14.

So far have attempted 7 or 8 times and it all stops. Sometimes saying my device is not connected even though it is. Sometimes saying it can’t find phone ā€˜that’s suitable’.

Tried different operating systems, different computers, different chromium browsers and also Terminal/Command Line

Do you think being Android 15 is the issue?

All the best regards

Peace

potentialy yes for installing /e/OS-a14
but not for installing /e/OS-a15

that need fastboot and / or adb to be present in the system
also, windows needs additionnal drivers that are tricky to install via windows update → optionnal updates [Solved] Windows does not see my phone in Fastboot mode

Hi @eguy I have not checked this properly for recent updates here but I think it would be worthwhile https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-stable-tetris-14-e-os-for-cmf-phone-1.4692763/.

Sounds like you are using eosinstaller. :red_circle:

@piero and @aibd

Thank you both for your replies!

(We ā€˜met’ some months ago when I was having problems with my Samsung which is now cut off here in Australia due to the VoLTe network upgrades and regulations which rendered my Samsung obselete, which is why I have bought a Nothing CMF Phone 1)

It seems probably best if I try to ā€˜roll back ā€˜ to Android 14 so I can set up the official e/OS for the phone.

I have looked at the link from @piero but I will need a clear head and energy to tackle it well, as I’m not long out of hospital and still not 100%

For me at present, the easiest and best method I want to use. I’m sure you understand.

For now, I’ll go through your kind and helpful replies and get my head around it.

@aibd i shall eagerly look at the link you shared.

By the way, I only use Linux based systems. Can handle Terminal provided it is free of presumed guesswork. Not the sharpest knife in the block! I found the Git page a bit overwhelming as it is quite thorough but some stuff I am not familiar with.

I really appreciate both your help. So good and a fine example of the wholesome community at e/OS.

Peace

Tip: For Windows users, we advise to use Git Bash

To help understanding the layout of the page, please notice that the Git bash element is just a way to make a Windows PC behave like Linux. So just disregard that element.
