Today I tried unsuccessfully to install e/OS on my new CMF Phone 1. First with e/OS Installer, on Windows and MAC. The software was downloaded but always stopped during the boot process. I installed ADP and Fastboot, but still no success. I have read many such cries for help on the internet; unfortunately, it does not seem to be so easy to install. The documentation is very incomplete, the usual mess. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve this without having a nervous breakdown?
I just install e os on CMF phone 1 white command line on linux.. I tried to installed step by step on the e os site but didnât work. after unlock EOM..USB debugging and put USB in file transfer power off your phone and then keep pressing power button and volume up button and select fastboot mode and use the command bline to innstal e os and you good to goâŚsorry for my Englishđ
I just bought a cmf 1. documentation is not incorrect. documentation is fake. itâs a copy-and-paste of some standard crap.
if you buy a cmf 1 on the market, follow the instructions, upgrade the firmware, you wonât be able to enter developer or debug mode. you wonât find a way. so you wonât go one step beyond. I donât know if you can work it with the original 2.3 or so ânothing osâ (nomen, omen) because firmware update is not reversible.
I can understand murena needs some intake, but some people would like to try before paying.
at the bottom of the page I saw the yellow warning: Prima di procedere con lâinstallazione, verifica se è disponibile lâultima versione del firmware Android per il tuo dispositivo. (before proceeding check last firmware) so I upgraded. I really thank you but I tried on a zenfone, failed, retryed and now downgrading and restarting again, itâs too much for me. Thank you again, Paolo
I did update everything first and note it is at Android 15. Could this be a/the problem?
Iâll have a read through the post and link you gave us (thank you) and try taking it back to 14.
So far have attempted 7 or 8 times and it all stops. Sometimes saying my device is not connected even though it is. Sometimes saying it canât find phone âthatâs suitableâ.
Tried different operating systems, different computers, different chromium browsers and also Terminal/Command Line
potentialy yes for installing /e/OS-a14
but not for installing /e/OS-a15
that need fastboot and / or adb to be present in the system
also, windows needs additionnal drivers that are tricky to install via windows update â optionnal updates [Solved] Windows does not see my phone in Fastboot mode
(We âmetâ some months ago when I was having problems with my Samsung which is now cut off here in Australia due to the VoLTe network upgrades and regulations which rendered my Samsung obselete, which is why I have bought a Nothing CMF Phone 1)
It seems probably best if I try to âroll back â to Android 14 so I can set up the official e/OS for the phone.
I have looked at the link from @piero but I will need a clear head and energy to tackle it well, as Iâm not long out of hospital and still not 100%
For me at present, the easiest and best method I want to use. Iâm sure you understand.
For now, Iâll go through your kind and helpful replies and get my head around it.
@aibd i shall eagerly look at the link you shared.
By the way, I only use Linux based systems. Can handle Terminal provided it is free of presumed guesswork. Not the sharpest knife in the block! I found the Git page a bit overwhelming as it is quite thorough but some stuff I am not familiar with.
I really appreciate both your help. So good and a fine example of the wholesome community at e/OS.
To help understanding the layout of the page, please notice that the Git bash element is just a way to make a Windows PC behave like Linux. So just disregard that element.
Youâre too kind. Iâll try harder next time, and Iâll be more careful. Thank you. However and somehow it seems someone other has faced this minor issue so I hope my troll posting may be useful. Other people can find your help for downgrading, or installing on android 15. Grazie, Paolo
Please can you help me? If this thread closes, perhaps message me or help me start a new relevant thread.
I can not find any direct and easy to understand place via the links you gave to downgrade or roll back to Android 14 from Android 15.
I feel rather stupid but confess that I am having a really hard time finding anything that walks me through doing it.
Too much guess work for me. I am sorry but I really would appreciate your help. Please
Peace
p.s. I have read through so many pages and looked and read links on pages. Bookmarks galore and near total brain burst trying to understand it. It should be simple but I am unlearned.
On top of this I am also being affected by side effects from medication I am needing at present which make thinking a bit blurry.
I donât have first hand experience of the phone but those links I included, one from the original developer, all say no need to roll back â is that the only problem?
Usually, it is âwrongâ to try to roll-back Android. The method to do a rollback often involves the manufacturers Fastboot ROM made for the purpose. In the case of tetris the /e/OS ROM is a Fastboot ROM so it is indicated that it is competent.
I always ensure I have a copy of the manufacturers reinstall ROM and install instructions, if only to aid confidence in proceeding into the unknown.
In conclusion, look like the general rules regarding downgrade exceptionnally donât apply to this device,
You can have a go direct with /e/-a14 using the install script :
trying the e/OS Installer, when i try to connect to phone i get:
âError on step: device-detection
Cannot execute command connect adb
The device is not connected Failed to connect: Cannot connect ADB Cannot read properties of undefined (reading âdeserialâ)
Proposal: Check connection and that no other program is using the phone and retry.â
very frustrating.
sees phone, i select it, press connect and get that message.
trying command line, gets nowhere even though i follow steps. Get to âadb reboot bootloaderâ and nothing, except once but no further.
itâs nearly half past one in the morning (again) . Donât understand why it is not working.
reset phone to factory settings before starting.
if your link doesnât help I might have to try another computer after loading a completely different linux OS onto it. Shouldnât have to do all this.
You have a number of different instruction sets. You probably do not need to do more reading but this hashtag eosinstaller which I gave before shows that it does not work for many. Troubleshooting the installer is probably not what you need.
Much better tomorrow tell us if or where you get stuck with the regular install instructions.
when the phone is in Fastboot mode aka Bootloader? The sole purpose of those commands is to get the phone to identify itself and its state so you know that you have a real Android connection.
